I guess I do take a progressive stance on this. But I do believe that we have to adapt to cultures and not be so narrow minded about things but at the same time balance out religon too. I always seek understanding in everything.

IMHO, most modern religion to me is manipulated by man for his own benefits. I believe we would have been better off in our pagan ways worshipping nature and it's beauty. Appreciating Mother Earth in all her glory because we are the only species which has the power to protect, save and care for all the other species on earth. I agree with PsY. Intention is important. What people see may not be what's really going on.

In this case, he was commenting on contestants of Academi Fantasia (a local talent show, a little like American Idol) hugging, I don't think their intentions were to commit lewd acts, weren't they? At least not on national television!

So, does it make sense for him to comment on that, especially when it was created by fellow Malaysians for local consumption? From what I can see, it's wholesome entertainment, fit for even the most pious family.

If something as innocent as a hug on stage can be construed as immoral, then what exactly are we allowed to watch?? Paint drying???

I would like to highlight something before we go on with this topic.

That is the dangers of Cultural Relativism. Just because you believe in a certain set of values and beliefs, pls do not apply them to ther people as you're apply rules that you believe in but are not really applicable with people who dont share those beliefs.

Please respect beliefs as they are a very touchy thing to people.
