Default Need help from VIA motherboard users

Hello everyone!

I'm researching something on V-Link. I need your help in confirming my findings. If you can, please help me do this :

Quote:
Please go to http://www.lavalys.com/products/eapm.php?pid=1&lang=en, download this version of Everest and install it?

Then follow these steps :-

1. Go to the BIOS and set V-Link Mode Selection to Mode 4 and set V-Link Data 2X Support to Disabled.

2. Boot up and run Everest. Use it to check the V-Link status and save me a screenshot.

3. Reboot and go to the BIOS. Set V-Link Data 2X Support to Enabled.

4. Boot up and run Everest again. Check the V-Link status and save a screenshot.

5. Now, go back to the BIOS and set V-Link Data 2X Support to Disabled. Then set V-Link Mode Selection to Mode 0, 1, 2 and 3 - grabbing a screenshot for each setting.

Then send all the screenshots to me. Of course, you have to let me know which was for what.

If you have no idea how to name them, try this way :-

data2x_off_mode_0.gif
data2x_off_mode_1.gif
...
data2x_on_mode_4.gif
Thanks!

I checked my (latest) BIOS and see entries as follows:

V-Link 8x Supported (Currently Enabled) -- I could disable if you wish to experiment.

V-Link Data 2x Support (Currently Disabled)

I will proceed if you wish, but am not sure about the mode selections in your instructions.

Hello Elkdad,

In that case, just leave V-Link 8X Supported at Enabled. And just get me the V-Link status for V-Link Data 2X Support enabled and disabled.

Thanks!!

You're going to have to be more specific as to where I can look at this status, or if Everest calls it something different. Thanks.

Hello Elkdad,

Just click on Motherboard -> Motherboard. You should be able to see Bus Type : VIA V-Link. It's that screen.

Thanks!

Ah darn, I just realized that your motherboard supports only V-Link 8X. It doesn't support Ultra V-Link.

Does anyone here have a motherboard that supports Ultra V-Link?

Thanks!

Adrian,
I've got an Epox 9HDAI mobo with a VIA K8T800 Pro chipset.

On the V-link mode selection, I have the option to go from 4x to 8x but I don't seem to be able to find this V-Link Data 2x Support. Could it be under a different name. sorry, i'm a real NoOb!!

Sorry. I'll try harder next time.

Thanks for turning me on to the neat utility. I've been studying it.
