I CTRL+F searched for all the keywords and looked through all the "CPU" options to see if one seemed related but to no avail. The "Description" is exactly what the manual states. Anyhoo here goes: BIOS Option : Use CPU Linear Freq Options : Default, Use Linear Description : If users would like to adjust CPU clock, this items must be set to "Use Linear". Motherboard : SOLTEK SL-75DRV5-C Chipset : VIA KT333 |

BIOS Option : Enhance PCI performance Options : Enabled, Disabled Description : From the shipping bios (15/4/03), but manual makes no reference Motherboard : ABIT NF7-S v2.0 Chipset : NVIDIA nForce2 BIOS Option : CPU disconnect function Options : Enabled, Disabled Description : From the shipping bios (15/4/03), but manual makes no reference Motherboard : ABIT NF7-S v2.0 Chipset : NVIDIA nForce2 NB. with this enabled my system would give an alarm and shutdown at around 2v vcore. |

Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | Spread spectrum means that the current operating frequency, i.e. 2Ghz will be speeded up to for example 2.1Ghz and then slowed down to 1.9Ghz to stop electromagnetic emmisions from the component from interfering with the operation of nearby electrical devices. The mean frequency is "oscillated" around. ![]() |

Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | Here's another for you: BIOS Option : Dynamic Overclocking Options : Disabled, Private (BIOS Default), Sergeant, Captain (High Performance Default), Colonel, General Description : Controls the dynamic overclocking of the CPU (possibly focusing on the FSB). Motherboard : Neo-FIS2R, Neo2-FIS2R Chipset : Intel 875P, Intel 865PE BIOS Option : Performance Mode Options : Slow, Fast Description : Haven't a clue what this does. Motherboard : Neo-FIS2R, Neo2-FIS2R Chipset : Intel 875P, Intel 865PE I've been told dynamic overclocking isn't on the Neo-FIS2R board yet, and has to be added by a later BIOS update. However, my board which I received as an RMA replacement, seems to have the feature (better check they sent the right one). You can find more details on this feature at the following locations: http://www.msi.com.tw/html/e_service...6728/page3.htm http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20030521/ http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20030522/ Another useful link may be: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_serv...942#post171942 |

Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | I made a slight error in my Performance Mode entry. It can in fact be set to: Slow, Fast, Turbo, Ultra-Turbo Oh, and an update on Dynamic Overclocking. Each setting can overclock the processor FSB by a certain amount depending on what you're running (maximum overclock for games, none for idle). I can't say how it tells the difference between apps though. Private = 1% Sergeant = 3% Captain = 5% Colonel = 7% General = 10% |

Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | I have several of Supermicro's new SuperServers which have Pheonix BIOS in them. There is an option that I can't seem to find any information on. I have googled, yahoo'd, and altavista'd each with barely a page of links, most of which point to Supermicro's docs that don't give any information as to what it is for. It only has an enable/disable option to choose from. Here is the info. mobo: Super X5DP8-G2 DUAL XEON WITH HYPER THTREAD SUPPORT bios: Pheonix option: Advanced, Advanced Chipset Control, Clock Spectrum Feature Settings: Enable / Disable Any help or information on this option would be greatly appreciated!! I have 7 of these servers being used in a production MS Database capacity and I am attempting to track down an intermittent(sp?) reboot problem. F.Y.I. Software list if needed. 5 of the 7 servers... Windows Ent. 2003 Server Current service packs - too many to list Win2k3 resource kit (primarily for ROBOCOPY utility) McAfee Enterprise AntiVirus Ver. 7 Intel Pro 100/1000 Proset Nic Drivers (Dual 1G NICs are Adaptive load balanced) MS SQL server Enterprise Edition (current security patches applied) FamaTech RADMIN utility for Remote console The ONLY difference on the other 2 servers is that they have Windows 2000 Adv. Server instead if 2003 ent. Thanks Very much!!!! ![]() |

Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | BIOS Option : Video Cache Options : i.e. Enabled, Disabled Description : Motherboard : ABIT MAX3 Chipset : i.e. intel 875 I found it did nothing for video speed. All it did was made my system unstable. It says if you have an older graphics card turn it off. I think this info is outdated. The video cache use to apply to ISA and maybe PCI cards. My 9700 pro is new and setting it to ON is no good. With it on I had no speed up. You may want to take another look at this settings description in your BIOS manual. |
