Actually film resolution is limited by the size of the particles on the film.

So, film resolution is still limited in some way, but not in a uniform or fixed way that an optical sensor is.

Yup, exactly.

Digital has its usage. Try bursting 1000+ shots in an hour with film cameras...

Nah...1Ds can only do 4fps. Try the normal 1D MkII.

I don't think such technology will appear, probably not in our lifetime, when Canon are probably giving up making higher MP sensors.

I still think the 144 Mpixel camera is hotter, with each image using at least 140MB file size.

Seriously, if we are trying to squeeze so many pixels into a 35mm film, we are back to square 1, the purpose of this article!

I think it's time for them to stop making higher MP sensors and concentrate on clean output, especially at higher sensitivity.
