Hmm.. I thought quality generally improves with pixel size, as opposed to pixel density?

After all, pixel density is what consumer sensors have been concentrating on - getting as many pixels into the small sensor as possible.

Prosumer and professional sensors, on the other hand, have tended towards larger sensors with a much lower pixel density.

The problem with sensors today is because the pixel density is so high, the amount of light going to each pixel is very little, they have to amplify the signals, which increases the noise.

That's why Canon is going with the route of using large sensors with lower pixel density like the EOS5D.

Hmm.. Is the upcoming Nikon camera going to use a larger sensor? Or the same size, just with a greater pixel density?

D70 replacement? Definitely the same size with greater pixel density, just like D200.

The word 'affordable' is quite obvious already.
