my thoughts are simply that I go for what's latest available. and then stick with it for 3-4 more years
just like my decision to get the D70.

LOL read group 3... it's exactly my thought process since beginning of the year

and no, my reason is because the D70 is starting to fail on me already. hahaha. so better get one before I get stuck with a dead camera when I really need one.

IMHO, I would get an upgrade if it promises faster and more accurate auto-focus PLUS a much better white balance. A bigger, brighter viewfinder would be nice too. So is that image preview capability.

Hehe for me, I'm looking something better AF than my current D70, a bigger view finder, bigger memory buffer, faster FPS, a decent vertical grip. Oh AI-S metering would be nice cause I'm thinking of adding manual lens in the future....

As I usually manual set my WB or I shoot RAW so I hardly use Auto WB these days.

With the release date in Nov, I doubt we can get our hands on one by end of this year, unless you are willing to pay a premium to be the first guinea pig. Safe side I say maybe mid next year. If I can wait that long.

Hmm.. The vertical grip is separate. Not sure how much it will cost, but it won't be cheap.

Well, manual WB doesn't seem to cut it all the time.
