In all honesty I have been out almost every weekend to gather photos since I have built it. I have captured some things that I have never seen before, but I am VERY critical when it comes to sharing pics that I think are only so-so.

Keep in mind that "Mother Nature" has most of the control over taking night sky pics. My main enemies include:
  1. Moon - best between last quarter and new phases (unless shooting the moon)
  2. Clouds - I hate clouds! :brickwall:
  3. Dew - Point at which the air saturates (basically, you get surrounded by low lying clouds/fog)
  4. Wind - Not so much of a factor with observatory
  5. Tiredness - sitting out at night past bedtime can be brutal.
  6. Wife - she thinks I am nuts sitting outside all night/sleeping all day
  7. Free time - Does anyone ever have enough?

All that said... I am working on taking more pics. Next planned outings are 25th - 28th of April and 2nd - 4th of May.

Wow.. That's some serious hardware!

Your observatory even has a roof that slides in and out on rails!

What used to take me hours to set up now takes less than 10 minutes. It takes less to put it away when those FREEKIN' clouds roll in!
