Here is a shot of a church window, and then the same image with 3 colour overlay layers. It’s good to cheat

Adding lens flare into the picture?

no, I just overlaid 3 tones gradients, A circle in the top left, a line gradient in the bottom right and another line from top left to center. I though it made the image more interesting.

Hmm.. It does make the picture more interesting.

I flipped between the two many times. I can't describe it... but the first picture really looks more interesting, even though the details of the stained glass windows are of course a little washed out.
