BTW, here's the list of updates or fixes :

1. An issue that, in some rare situations, caused the battery indicator to blink with shooting, regardless of actual battery charge status, has been resolved.
2. Confirming the firmware version:
- Turn the D300 on.
- Press the MENU button and select Firmware version from the setup menu. The camera's firmware version will be displayed.
- Turn the D300 off.

THis one seems to have some big improvements

notably
- The range of settings available for ISO sensitivity settings > ISO sensitivity auto control > Minimum shutter speed in the shooting menu has been increased from 1/250 – 1 s to 1/4000 – 1 s.
- Focus acquisition performance in dynamic-area AF mode has been improved.
- Focus acquisition performance with contrast-detect AF has been improved.
- Auto white balance performance has been improved.
