No not really,,, Just take food off. And then turn the heat on maximum, Then all the residue just burns/flakes off. What does not, I scrape down with a "grill Brush".

That chicken there,

I wanted kind of plain(this time), So just salt and black pepper. But If I wanted it BBQ style, I would have put some BBQ sauce and turned the heat down real low And simmered for 15 minutes more.
