Oh don't tempt me to unBOINC for a month.

Did a little testing on two machines today... on a dual core it splits the CPU time with BOINC (which is running two threads) so it gets 50% and the other two projects get 25% each. On a single core it seems to dominate the time. Not the results I'd hoped for.

PS: My testing resulted in a little bit of credit for TEAM ARP (figured somebody should get it).

Yeah, D2OL is not multithreaded.

So for grins... why don't ya'll run BOINC platform projects?

It's open source, has many more supported platforms, has a lot more preference settings to control execution, allows you to pick and chose different projects you wanna crunch for, is multi-CPU, multi-core and multi-thread aware, 64-bit versions available, etc. etc.

Don't get me wrong, if stand alone Folding (there is a similar BOINC based project) or D2OL is all you have any interest in and it works for you I can understand "why go thru the trouble of setting up a new platform".

But if there's some other shortfall in BOINC I'm curious as to what I've become blind to.

PS: But more importantly, have you seen Dashken's new posts in babe wars!

I ran D2OL to help heat up the room when I was living in Australia
Don't really want to do that now that I'm back in Singapore

That's what I was doing too. Download at home, bring to office to crunch, after finish, bring back home to upload. Got fed up with it after D2OL put a upload time limit to something like 1-2 weeks. So, if you downloaded the units and they are not uploaded back by 2 weeks or so, when you upload them, no points.
