Hello guys. :D I'm back.

My PC has been collecting dust for years and sometimes when i left my PC untouched for weeks, it wont start until i clean the dust around the RAM. So i want to remove all the dust inside my PC. The best way is probably to use the air compressor can but i can't any here. So can i use hair dryer to blow cold air to remove the dust? My friend works in a saloon and he has a very powerful hair dryer. Will it generate any electrostatic charge and fry my PC?

Cayman Islands and Taipei, Taiwan/November 09, 2009/Business Wire — Garmin-Asus, a co-branded alliance between Garmin® Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN) and ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (TAIEX: 2357), today announced that the nüvifone M20—an all-in-one phone, mobile web-browser and premium navigation system—is now available with Windows Mobile® 6.5. Users will be able to enjoy the host of improvements that Windows Mobile 6.5 provides, such as large touch-optimized icons, mobile applications via Windows Marketplace for Mobile, and the convenient Microsoft® My Phone service.

With Windows Mobile 6.5, the new nüvifone M20 boasts interface improvements, such as large touch-optimized icons and a streamlined Home screen, and comes preloaded with Facebook. In addition, users will be able to take advantage of Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Marketplace for Mobile to easily download and install additional applications to their M20. The Windows Marketplace offers high quality mobile applications for free or purchase, from important business tools to popular social networking applications such as MySpace to games. Last but not least, the new My Phone service offers a wealth of features such as data migration, data auto-syncing, backup and restoration, remote data wiping, as well as viewing, syncing and sharing of photos across PC, phone and web platforms.

Garmin-Asus has blended its signature navigation centric user interface with Windows Mobile 6.5. "Through its innovative integration of a phone, navigator, and browser, the nüvifone M20 is designed to enhance the lives of consumers today,” said Benson Lin, Vice President and General Manager of the ASUS Handheld Business Group. “With Windows Mobile 6.5, users can enjoy the same great LBS (location-based service) features of the original nüvifone M20, but with a richer and more rewarding user experience.”

“Windows phones bring together the best of the Web, the PC and the phone so you can connect instantly to the people and information you care about, no matter where you are,” said Stephanie Ferguson, general manager, product management, Microsoft Corp. “The Garmin-Asus nüvifone M20 helps people do more while on the go by combining the familiar, easy to use software on a Windows phone with a premium navigation experience.”

The Garmin-Asus nüvifone M20 running Windows Mobile 6.5 will be available in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech, Turkey and other markets by the end of 2009.

Existing users of nüvifone M20 phones running Windows Mobile 6.1 are also eligible for the free update to Windows Mobile 6.5. Details on how to perform the update can be found on Garmin-Asus ~ Phones for the location-based life (http://www.garminasus.com) from November 11.

E6500 @ 3.66 GHz - HSF recommendations

Planning to build an E6500/P45 system for my folks. I think running it @ 11x333 instead of the stock 11x266 should be easily accomplished. I've read that the stock HSF is both inefficient and noisy. Can you guys recommend a HSF that is:

1) Quiet (120 mm fan probably)
2) Mounts using a backplate to minimize flexing of the MB
3) Relatively inexpensive

My only experience with cooling C2D/C2Q chips has been using a TRUE-120+expensive 120 mm fan which is too expensive for this application and probably overkill.

Thanks!

True or False : Never Drive In The Rain With Cruise Control On!

Got this in the mailbox. Wonder if it's true....

---Quote---
A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago and totaled her car.

A resident of Kilgore , Texas she was traveling between Gladewater & Kilgore. It was raining, though not excessively, when her car suddenly began to hydro-plane and literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence!

When she explained to the highway patrolman what had happened he told her something that every driver should know:

NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON!!!

She thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain.

But the highway patrolman told her that if the cruise control is on when your car begins to hydro-plane and your tires lose contact with the pavement, your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed making you take off like an airplane.

She told the patrolman that was exactly what had occurred.

The patrolman said this warning should be listed on the driver's seat sun-visor:

NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY, along with the airbag warning.

We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed, but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the pavement is dry.

The only person the accident victim found, who knew this (besides the patrolman), was a man who had had a
similar accident, totaled his car and sustained severe injuries.

NOTE: Some vehicles (like the Toyota Sienna Limited XLE) will not allow you to set the cruise control when the windshield wipers are on.

Samsung offers two lines of desktop hard disk drives - the high-performance Spinpoint F line, and the eco-friendly EcoGreen line.

The main difference between the two lines is the spindle speed. The Spinpoint F drives have a spindle speed of 7200 RPM while the EcoGreen drives run at a more sedate 5400 RPM.

The Samsung Spinpoint F line currently consists of the F1 family of drives which are available in capacities ranging from just 80 GB to 1 TB, and the F3 family which only has two members - a 500 GB model and a 1 TB model.

Today, we will be looking at the top model in the Samsung Spinpoint F1 family - the *1 TB Samsung HD103UJ hard disk drive*.

Maxis just doesn't give a shit about you! (My iPhone booking experience)

I finally decided on the Apple iPhone, after my brother revealed that it was possible for 5 or more users to share apps. Another day and another story about that. Today is about the crappy experience I had buying my iPhone from Maxis.

I was outstation in Sabah when I decided to buy the iPhone. My other brother, Alan, made a booking in Tawau, which was over 2 hours away by car. It seemed pretty easy - just call up, pay the RM 200 deposit by bank transfer and wait for the phone to arrive.

So I had Jason book mine for me while I was in Sabah. He went to do that at the Maxis Centre in the Sunway Pyramid mall. This is the sequence of events :

*Oct. 5 (morning) :* They refused to accept the booking, unless Jason has a photostated copy of my identity card. So I e-mailed Jason a copy of my identity card for him to print out.

*Oct. 5 (afternoon) :* Jason went back to the Maxis Centre and this time, they told him that the copy of the identity card is worthless. To book, I must be PHYSICALLY in front of them. :x :x :x Needless to say, Jason was PISSED.

I called Maxis up right there and then, and questioned them on their "official policy". The "consultants" on the other end of the line didn't seem to be very sure what the official policy was.

Finally, they decided that an authorization letter was necessary. Never mind that such a letter can be faked. They said it's just "procedure". To be absolutely sure their "consultants" do not screw this one up, they called up the Maxis Centre at Sunway Pyramid to inform them of this NEW policy and e-mailed them as well.

*Oct. 8 :* Jason successfully booked my iPhone for me. Yay...

*Oct. 23 (afternoon) :* No one from Maxis called me up to even find out where I wanted to collect the phone from... Odd. So I called them up to find out about the status of my iPhone. Guess what - *my booking did NOT exist in the system*!

The "consultant" on the other end claimed that she required the registration number as there is NO WAY for her to find my booking using the telephone number, name or IC number. I would later find out that she was LYING.

Finally, she said she would access the Maxis Centre's records manually. I gave her the exact DATE and TIME of booking, and she still could not find the booking. Heck, no iPhone was ever booked at the center at that time, she claimed. There's also no booking registered to my name, my telephone number or even my identity card number!

She finally said she would call up the Sunway Pyramid Maxis Centre and find out what's going on. Never heard from her (or anyone else) after that.

*Oct. 23 (evening) :* Called them up again since the previous consultant failed to get back to me. This "consultant" couldn't find my booking either, even after giving him my registration number. Fantastic. But here's the killer punch - this joker actually told me, "*Sir, can you please go to the nearest Maxis Centre and make another booking?*"

OH MY GOD. Did this idiot actually ask me to register AGAIN for another iPhone??? What about my original booking and the RM 200 I paid for it??? I told him NO WAY and had him kick it up to someone higher to fix the problem.

*Oct. 26 (evening) :* No call back from them until today. Decided to raise hell at Maxis again. The consultant promised to look into it and call me back. This time, he actually did call me back.

This time, he told me that it was a technical glitch and that the booking was always there but it was not "visible" for some reason. Since the booking was valid, I should wait another 2 weeks for it to arrive.

That was pure BULLSHIT because everyone else who booked their iPhones at around the same time I did got it in less than 2 weeks. I believe they messed up the booking, and instead of admitting their mistake, lied and created a new booking, so I end up taking a fresh turn instead of getting the iPhone right away. :x :x :x

Finally, one of their consultants admitted that it was ridiculous that the other consultant expected me to wait another 2 weeks for my phone. She promised to look into it and have an iPhone assigned to my case ASAP.

*Oct. 29 :* Called Maxis up to find out how things were working out. WTH. The consultant told me that my iPhone was already assigned to me YESTERDAY. Why didn't anyone at the Sunway Pyramid Maxis Centre call me up to inform me? So, what did I get out of this experience?

1. Maxis doesn't give a shit about YOU.

2. Maxis doesn't have a proper booking policy for the iPhone.

3. Maxis has a damn screwed up system that can lose your booking, or make it go "invisible".

4. Maxis consultants seemed to have been trained to lie, and avoid any form of sincere apology.

Oct. 5 (morning) : They refused to accept the booking, unless Jason has a photostated copy of my identity card. So I e-mailed Jason a copy of my identity card for him to print out.

Oct. 5 (afternoon) : Jason went back to the Maxis Centre and this time, they told him that the copy of the identity card is worthless.

Oct. 8 : Jason successfully booked my iPhone for me. Yay...

Oct. 23 (afternoon) : No one from Maxis called me up to even find out where I wanted to collect the phone from... Odd. So I called them up to find out about the status of my iPhone. Guess what - my booking did NOT exist in the system!

Oct. 23 (evening) : Called them up again since the previous consultant failed to get back to me. This "consultant" couldn't find my booking either, even after giving him my registration number. Fantastic. But here's the killer punch - this joker actually told me, "Sir, can you please go to the nearest Maxis Centre and make another booking?"

OH MY GOD. Did this idiot actually ask me to register AGAIN for another iPhone??? What about my original booking and the RM 200 I paid for it??? I told him NO WAY and had him kick it up to someone higher to fix the problem.

Oct. 26 (evening) : No call back from them until today.

Oct. 29 : Called Maxis up to find out how things were working out. WTH. The consultant told me that my iPhone was already assigned to me YESTERDAY. Why didn't anyone at the Sunway Pyramid Maxis Centre call me up to inform me? The consultant seemed perplexed and could only give me a pathetic excuse - Oh, maybe they intended to do it today?

So, what did I get out of this experience?

1. Maxis doesn't give a shit about YOU.

2. Maxis doesn't have a proper booking policy for the iPhone.

3. Maxis has a damn screwed up system that can lose your booking, or make it go "invisible".

4. Maxis consultants seemed to have been trained to lie, and avoid any form of sincere apology.

Basically, Maxis just doesn't give a shit about you customers, okay? We are just their cash cows - to be milked, not serviced.

USB Drives Support UAS Protocol to Attain Transfer Speeds up to 320MB/sec

San Jose, California - November 4, 2009 - Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of Flash storage solutions and DRAM memory modules, today announced the new SuperSpeed USB 3.0 RAIDDrive, which supports transfer speeds up to ten times faster than USB 2.0 drives. The new drive, in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities, is fully backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports, but operates at slower speeds.

The USB 3.0 RAIDDrive uses patented "multiple pairs of differential serial data lines technology" for optimal NAND flash performance. "This product underscores Super Talent's continued leadership in USB drives." said Super Talent COO, C.H. Lee. "We've developed the world's first mobile USB 3.0 flash drive. It delivers phenomenal performance and it incorporates our own patented technology".

Measuring 95 x 37 x13.5 mm, the SuperSpeed drive is a truly portable drive. Like most USB drives, it requires no separate cable. It plugs directly into any USB port. Although this drive will work in USB 2.0, it delivers transfer speeds up to 200MB/sec only in USB 3.0 ports. Using a separate UAS Protocol driver with a USB 3.0 port this SuperSpeed drive can reach up to 320MB/sec transfer speeds. This product will be available in December from Super Talent resellers worldwide. Interested parties can register here for USB 3.0 product availability updates.

ECS revealed leading technology called “15 μ Gold Contact” that ensures motherboards longest lifespan, better reliability and excellent contact. This leading Technology is available on both Intel® and AMD platforms.

3 Times Extra Gold – 3 Times Extra Protection
Metal Pins on CPU Sockets and Memory Slots are susceptible from environment molecules that can cause instability of the whole system by forming oxidized rust on pins contact. Traditionally, in order to provide protection, 5µ Gold is flashed on these metal pins. Compared to 5µ Gold flash, ECS has discovered 3 times extra Gold “15 μ Gold Contact” which is equivalent to 0.000381 millimeters of Gold plating on its motherboard Socket and Slot Pins to offer 3 times extra protection. Due to this technology, Gold plating on Socket and Slot pins are 3 times thicker and stable that also provide additional confidence to extreme gamer who always plug-in and plug-out their system components.

Excellent Technology for Better Reliability, Long lifespan and excellent contact
Only ECS Motherboards come up with 15 μ Gold Contact technology, is reliable to offer better protection and stability. 15 μ Gold is extremely safe and never allow forming patina on metal pins. Longest lifespan means better durability that offer highest plug-in opportunity. Gold is an excellent conductive metal that support efficient signal transmission. In other words, ECS “15 μ Gold Contact” technology offers better reliability, long lifespan and excellent contact.

I'm going to be building a new computer for my sister. She basically does flash/shockwave gaming at most. Everything else is word processing and other basic stuff.
In light of this, as well as wanting it as cheap as possible, it's not going to be anything special.
She is going to keep using Windows XP for now, so that's why I'm only getting one stick of 2GB RAM.
