local "original" game store still dont have stock. maybe next week. just dont have the money to buy original now.

one question . i have a 9600pro and 512 ram. better upgrade gpu or my ram at 1gig to play hl2 faster?

Just beat the game. They definetly left it open for a HL3 as there's no real ending to the game.

CPU most important?

Well with the physics being as good as they are, it requires a good CPU to handle that.

That is because they have the highest end graphics card.

Things would be different on lower end cards.

Perhaps, but usually expansions add a side story. Like hopefully they'll do an Opposing Force 2.
