I enjoy playing older games. It seems that many of the newer games seem to focus on graphics at the expense of good gameplay. With the older games the situation was reversed. | |

Backwards compatibility doesn't sell new machines. Like Nintendo announced retro gaming is like the best thing since sliced bread, a bit naive don't you think. Guess they never heard of MAME. And to be honest, even though a game like Street Figther 2 was the bomb a decade ago, when you play it now it's just no fun. Lots of these games were fantastic at it's time, but even a greater number don't age well. The issue of graphics > playability is IMO mostly Sony to blame. Before the PS1 gaming was totally different. If you're a gamer like me, yup the kind who lived at the arcades, you know what I mean. Gaming totally changed. After Sony's machine arrived gaming turned into a really mass thing. And the mass don't like/want to play hard & innovative stuff. Instead they want to play EA games. That's exactly why Sega went bankrupt: for being far ahead of everyone, for being creative. I don't even think that developers are doing their best to make graphics look stunning and neglect playability on purpose, I think most of them just can't make a decent game..
