And to be honest, even though a game like Street Figther 2 was the bomb a decade ago, when you play it now it's just no fun. Lots of these games were fantastic at it's time, but even a greater number don't age well.

The issue of graphics > playability is IMO mostly Sony to blame. Before the PS1 gaming was totally different. If you're a gamer like me, yup the kind who lived at the arcades, you know what I mean. Gaming totally changed.

After Sony's machine arrived gaming turned into a really mass thing. And the mass don't like/want to play hard & innovative stuff. Instead they want to play EA games. That's exactly why Sega went bankrupt: for being far ahead of everyone, for being creative.

I don't even think that developers are doing their best to make graphics look stunning and neglect playability on purpose, I think most of them just can't make a decent game..
Yeah, building a great looking game is easier (just hire good artists?) than creating a new gameplay that we have never seen before.

Back to the topic, I think both consoles capability will be close. I don't care which is more powerful, but I do care about the price.

I took you literally.

Indeed, I still own an Atari and a NES, but that does not mean I can still play games on them, for one the NES controllers bit the dust many years ago. I have searched and searched for the parts to fix them but have not been able to fine what I'm looking for.

I must disagree, it was because of this that I abandoned Nintendo's consoles and why I have now abandoned their portable as the new DS does not allow me to play all the black and white Gameboy games I still like to play.

Spyhunter is every bit as fun as it was almost two decades ago. Castle Wolfenstein from Muse software was way more fun (and still is) to play than any of ID Software's version's thereafter.

I think that's a bit too generalized. If all they wanted to play where EA games then EA would be the only Publisher in town which they are not.

Sega is still around. The software side of Sega is called Segasoft. I think it's the publishers that are most at fault for the string of unoriginal games that have been released over the last 5-10 years. The publishers don't like taking risks with their money. So instead of putting their money into supporting developers who are doing new and original games, which may or may not be a hit. The publisher feeds it's money into sure things a.k.a sequels.

You mean the physical looks? I don't really care about those. We only look at our console when we turn it ON/OFF or changing the discs. Most of the time, we stare at the tv.

Haha, IMO the PS2 is the most ugly console ever. (and yes I do own one) The Xbox is just big n bulky, but that's because they use PC parts. The dvdrom/HD takes up the top half of the machine already, without it the xbox would even look sexy when you shave off the top half.

It's just a shame that the Xbox360 is nearly as big in size as the xbox 1

developing a console performance is entirely diff from PC's graphics..

it's a closed system. the specs are fixed. doesnt matter how many million units they gonna sell, as long as they meet the min performance requirement set by both developers, then all the games will work just fine and smooth.

is there really a point to argue who will be the best performer??
