I don't know WHERE to start, even I'm provided with ALL these hints and tips. In the game, should I start the whole city with industrial and residential first? Or should I make all of 'em in the same city? And my city have problems with the commuting. It seems that these Sim-people can complain about long-commuting times when THEY have all the bus stops, railroads, and highways? Isn't there a procedure in playing the game? I appriciate it very much for all the advise and the tips. Heh heh... |

anyways, to solve the commute problems, i remember reading somewhere that you can't segregate the zones by too much.. would you travel an hour just to get to work?

If you dont, be sure it get it as it significantly improves the transportation network for your sims and commute times Initially when you start of with an empty region, your first city should have dirty industry & farms together with low wealth residents and some commercial zones.. dont bother placing schools, hospitals, etc. yet. Then the neighbour city to your first city can get a MUCH better start.. (more wealthy citizens) Have highways connecting neighbouring cities, and avenues as the main "backbones" throughout the city/housing areas Place bus stops at the busy intersections (the Traffic network query tool comes handy here) HTH! |

Or Commercial & Industy, or all 3. When you are first starting out its a bit tough to get the first few cities growing, but once you have about 4-5 cities interconnected, building a new city next to it is easy as you can share/buy power/water/garbage, and there is the "spillover" effect from other cities, meaning people will move in quickly, and city growth is much faster. If you fancy having those high-density mega skyscrapers, its gonna take a while until you start seeing them. Those only appear with the region population of about 1mil |
