Post Any good space-flight-shooter?

The game section of this forum seems quite inactive.

I am looking for a good space-flight-sim-shooter for the PC, something like Freelancer or Wing Commander.
Does anyone have a good recommendation?

Thanks in advance.

There are a couple of games under the Star Wars theme that are supposed to be good.
X-wing vs TIE-fighter comes to mind...
None very new though, so you don't have to worry about the hardware restrictions.

Well, I'm not sure what type of gamer you are. I used to play X-Wing a lot. It was good in DOS, but I'm not sure about Windows. Aquanox had great graphics for it's time. Windows is more suited to games that don't require low latencies I think, because of the HAL and everything. There's not a whole lot of Windows flight sims. I did play X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter on Windows 98, and the latency was just so bad -- the Tie fighter reacted like a Star Destroyer (only without armor or shields) so it wasn't really any fun to play.

Yeah, I tried XvT. But Im running on WinXP with 3Ghz processor, the game is running like its on steroids but most of the time Windows would just tell me it refuse to run the game or kick me out seconds after booting the game.

Hmm... Aquanox 2 looks nice but it is a 3rd person view shooter?
I heard about a game call "death star one" but cant find any information about. Anyone got any idea?

Might try Space Interceptor, or if you can wait darkstar one is expected to be released soon as is Tomorrow War. You might also be interested in fan made games for example

Gemini Gold
Flight Commander
Wing Commander Standoff
