Reputation: 18 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | While we were trawling the Internet, we spotted what must be the first fully ad-supported first-person shooter ever. It's called Kuma/War and it's at www.kumawar.com. With piracy being an eternal threat to computer game companies, it just might be possible that they'd sell at least some of their titles that way. You can't pirate something that's give away for free, and even if you could, they (the game companies) would still make money from the advertising. It seems to be the perfect way to foil piracy -- give the games away but make it ad-supported. Gamers get free games, and game companies make money from every copy. Still, it remains to be seen whether ad revenues will be enough to support this model. If it is, count on more publishers selling their titles this way.
