Default Quake 4 problems

Hi, Ive just loaded Q4 on my system when ever I try to start a new game the game appears to be starting eg: Loading.... and then crashes back to the main menu.
My system AMD 2600 XP, 1 gig ram , Nvidia7600 GS graphics, previously Q4 ran on this system(badly) the only difference being graphics card was ATI 9600pro.
Any suggestions to my problem.

Cheers Tito

Does this happen with any other game?
Have you properly removed the old ATI drivers and installed the new Nvidia ones?

might wanna give driver cleaner a go too.

download driver cleaner (google it)

boot in safemode, and run the scans, select mutiple drivers and clean out all the ati junk...may as well clear out the nvidia too and start fresh, then reboot and install the latest nvidia drivers.

i just had to clean a friends system of this today goin from ati to nvidia
