Default Q? For Anyone who rememmbers the 80's coffee table games ?

Can anyone tell me the name of a video game that was around the pinball parlours circa 1980?
As a side game, it featured a cheap looking old fashioned western hand gun that you used to shoot ducks etc in a shooting gallery.Another side game had bats that swooped from side to side until you shot them.

Did it have a gun on a cord that you pointed at the screen, Or was the gun "on screen" and moved side to side with buttons?
There was/is a game named "Carnival" that fits your your discription,,, If the gun was "on screen".

screen shot 3'rd click in on this slide show. http://www.slideshare.net/wuzziwug/e...e-games-part-1

Was fun game. I got it on MAME, on one of my older pc's.

You both could be partially right but, dont understand the Q re: "which computer"? & yeah the carnival game is spot on.Maybe you two are too young to remember when nearly every comp game at the pool rooms was a sit down opposite each other game, where the screen was in the coffee size table. As I said, there were different side games & carnival was one of them but I cannot remember what the main game was "Centipede"?,maybe. The vampire bat,- side game was setup the same way, moving side to side from bottom of the screen shooting upwards.Starts with 5 bats flying from side to side above each other & as u shot them the others would swoop down on you.Did Galaga or Galaxian ever have side games in the coin version?

Phoenix sounds like the second game you mentioned.

When you say "side game",, "coffee table", do you mean a cocktail version?
(a small table top coin-op)

Use google you should be able to find it there.

Thumbs up

Maybe it's the lenght of time since I played them that had me thinking that they were all one game but you were right again. The bat bird game was Phoenix.By side game I mean't game within game & coffee table game was referring to table top gaming.Found some phoenix screenshots on a site called coinop.org.I'm sure Carnival did have a side game because it wouldn't have been much of a game as a stand alone.
Thanks for clearing it up.

Ishtim, that game plaedies is similar to Centipede isn't it?
If I remember both games used a ball that was inset into the console which was used to steer the sight.the games I was referring to had a joystick.
