They need to come up with something but why make it so system heavy its nasty

One thing I have noticed running this 478 socket CPU for a while longer (ducks lol). As Major mentioned in another thread the X1950 does quite well with this game even though it is a few generations older. Ran 1280 x 1024 with whatever the default settings are for the rest and was quite playable actually I was surprised.

A performance patch or something would be useful as Adrian mentioned I know a few people running quads the Q6600 like Ianho and same thing it just kills them on higher settings ....

I think this game is very garphics limited. Additional CPU power is not really going to help, not at 1920x1200 very high details.

If I have to speculate, I would say that Crysis was not optimized properly... perhaps even intentionally. Odd, isn't it, that it is the only game that needs so much graphics processing power you actually have to consider getting 2 or more graphics cards to play it at a decent frame rate at high resolution?

I'd say Crytek can definitely improve on Crysis' performance if they really want to. They had better. No one with anything less than an overclocked GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB or equivalent can run the game at 1600x1200 at the High setting at over 30 fps.

That's stupid because it precludes a large number of gamers who are only using GeForce 8600/8500 or older cards. IMHO, no game company that really wants to make it big will intentionally make their game so darn slow unless there's some payback through the backdoor....

Reading the comments by Adrian and Chai and good points on graphics and perhaps thats why I had decent results with it even on my moderate settings. My X1950 is far from being stock and when I first installed the cooler I out benched a friend running an E6700 Duo core with my 478 Prescott on 3Dmark3. He was running a BB ATI x1950xt.

This was the score and know it won't impress anyone but look at the fps on Battle of Proxycon this modded card seems to love these types of graphics. Speculation maybe but I agree with Adrian and Chai on Crysis being more graphics demanding. Should this not choke on my system even at 1280 x 1024 unless its the video card that makes the difference ?

I dont think they made it such a hog on purpose. Coz even Far Cry, that took a loooooooooong time b4 I cud play it at 2560x1600 all at Max gfx settings. About 3 years actually. N Cevat Yerly did say it'll take top of the line hardware about 3 years again to catch up with Crysis at max resolution n gfx settings.

I'm not expecting to play at 100FPS, just hoping that the Crysis preformance patch improves things just a little so I can at least play at about 40-50FPS for now. Or else, I'll hafta go find myself a Tri SLI bridge from Asus n another GTX to up the FPS. I've actually stopped playing Crysis now so I can wait for the patch to see how it goes then.

Cool THX for the info Ianho and let us hope the patch works out for everyone. On a third 8800gtx thats extreme and getting a bit pricey at the same time. We have users asking for SLI patches on NGOHQ.com but since NVidia has threatened legal action towards us twice Regeneration has stopped working on them and NV optimized drivers in general. The server is located in Israel and doesn't fall under international law so NV got sent a STFU .. but still what a way to run a business

In general some Mobos and Chipsets aren't completely compatible with SLI. The members question were both running ASUS mobos

Do you mean hacked drivers to run SLI on non Nvidia motherboards?
