I like this Excessive Plus Also free, and based on quake 3 engine.

Gen it isn't quake. It's like CS, the guns, accuracy, etc are like CS actually better than CS because you can climb ledges, sprint, power slide, bleed to death, bandage wounds and more. "You should know better by now".
The Q3 engine rocks. It's open sourced and therefore completely modifieable, even the client and the netcode is among the best.

Another notable standalone q3 based game is Tremulous. A blend of FPS and RTS, definitely not for the weak minded.
