Yeah, thanks sir!

I thought of getting to form a blues band in my college, but all of them are not interested at ALL. If they are, well, it'll be so rocking fantastic!

Now I'm only lacking of drum players and bassist.

For begineers of Classical guitar, it's usually recommended to have the Fredrick Noad's Classical method book (they have book 1 and 2 I think) and the Pumping Nylon series. They are very fantastic.

Meanwhile, to progress even further, the Baroque Book (Chanterelle) do actually provide new students some more music repetorie. New students can get bored easily of those etudes and studies, so actually, it's nice to play some old airs and dances. The book covers ABRSM Grades 3 - 6 only so one will use it up to the end of the Grade 5.

The toughest pieces are mostly complex study pieces by Sor and Scarlatti's sonatas aren't easy to deal with. Bach's Prelude BWV996 is one of the last Grade 8 piece that I attempted, but the very fast scales and the Presto part causes me to discontinue the practise immediately.

Aggh, I wish I'm still under the instructor but the fees are god damn expensive. So for the rest of my life, I'm only in the middle of Grade 7. Hahahah...

Hey thats not bad at all man good stuff. It was funny I was 20 went to Greg Prest (great guitar player has worked with Liona Boyd) anyone in the Ottawa Ontario area look him up for classical lessons

Anyhew I went in as a beginner to classical and he asked me to play a bit. I had been playing 6 years at that point and he looked at me and said looks like we skip the first 4 books lol. Had fun that summer during college and Greg was just awesome taught me a lot but those 4 months are the only formal lessons I have ever taken. I am self taught for the most part. Gotta love the gitfiddle and good suggestions in your post on classical

Fast learner eh? That's very good for you!

I also actually did a ABRSM Grade 5 test there 4 years ago - it is really fantastic! Somehow I got just a distinction, just on that limit point (130/150).

And the strangest thing is, most of the syllabus in the test is still remain unchanged!

I have finally, gradually moving to acoustic blues and some more older Renaissance pieces too, and also, some electric guitar. Looks like there's plenty to learn!

Wow, you learned a truckload of guitaring experience in your college!

I wish I had all these in my hands!! Unfortunately my college/university lacks of a full-fledged music club. In there, they don't really welcome us. Once my brother (he is working in MY uni) paid like uh... $3 (RM10) dollar membership fees and the guy promised to let him use the music room... but all he found out the whole semester is, the room is locked!

Meanwhile, no use fretting about my college's underfunded music club. I have to start somewhere.

I will make a homemade Fuzz Face or any cool distortion pedal after my exams. I *need* to make full use of my Analog Electronics course haha!

Actually I didn't take music at college or in high school just 4 months of lessons for classical during summer break second year of college. Anything I have learned is self taught for the most part but I do agree the music areas at your college should have been utilized better. Cool on the Fuzz Face too I made a phaser pedal and a 100 watt MOSFET amp back in the day lol

Well its a passion and also a good source of relaxation. You will find time if you want to do it even an hour a day. On a guitar check used instruments at a local music store or in the classifieds doesn't have to be brand new for your first Gitfiddle. You need any help on choices or any other questions post em and we will try and answer them for you. Thats why I started this thread

Definitely is a stress buster. Nothing like coming home and learning how to play Megadeth after a long hard day at work (and other heavier songs by bands like Godsmack).

I try to learn Soundgarden and Nirvana while chilling and also some bluesy rock (still playing around with a slide).

Some songs are soooo simple but so fun to play just to kill time (like All Apologies - Nirvana).
