there are three path if i recall.. there is dx8, dx8.5 and dx9.. so like ZuePhok said if there is a prob with dx9 path you can go with dx8 or dx8.5.. dx8.5? they said it partially have dx9 feature also.. i guess its for mid range system..

Errmmm...DX8 = PS1.1, DX8.1 = PS1.4, DX9 = PS2.0, DX9c = PS3.0. I'm not sure if they are using PS3.0 though...

i smell that my ATI card is doing some baking on celebrating the release for HL2.... oh well... whahahaaa

Should be ok. Even Doom 3 can run well at Low settings on that kind of setup
Only thing is u'll miss out on the DX9 water effects.

Chai: I doubt they're using PS3.0, Valve is in cahoots with ATI so it's not likely they'll use an Nvidia feature

it would be very stupid for valve if they were to optimize their HL2 solely for ATI...they have spent 5x the amount work and time they used to optimize the game for radeon on the NV3x series about a year ago..this has proved that...no ..no cahoots with ati..
nvidia still owns a large share of the graphics market..they aren't that stupid to just cahoots with ati cuz they gonna lose big $$$ if they do so..

HL2 has HDR right?
