i wish i had money for a 6800...

while i was playing it yesterday, it took like a minute to load the maps, and i thought that my computer was sucking, so i quit out of hl2 and, lo and behold, norton antivirus was scanning...bastard program

You should really turn off any auto-protection or scan-scheduling while playing, no matter what kind of viral-scan.

i benchmarked hl2 with the demos available at anandtech, and these are my scores (default settings, 1024 res)

at_c17_12 65fps
at_canals_08 95fps
at_coast_05 60fps
at_coast_12 133fps
at_prison_05 81fps

not bad, in my opinion
