Default ic7g - Serious System Crash Problem With Nero Problem - Is it Hardware ?

Whenever I attempt to use Nero, my system hard crashes. As in the power plug was pulled effect. If it was software oriented, I would assume (big assumption here) it would be a little different crash. I really want to know what is causing this. I have installed, uninstalled nero a few times with different versions. The software, os and norton are all licensed, so it is nothing strange there.

I can use clonecd, alcohol120 and all forms of dvd / cd playing software without a problem. So I know it is something to do with nero.

I know I dont need to use nero, but at this point I want to know what the problem is.

Any ideas you have would be appreciated !!

Thanks

System:

ic7g (latest bios 27)
win xp pro, all patches and sr's
Norton 2004
onboard raid 0
two wd 80gb hd's on sata 1 and 2
4x 512mb hyperx 3500
9800 pro
antec 450
sony cdrw
sony dvd rw
ms usb keyboard / mouse combo
using onboard sound and nic
lian li pc65 all fans work and the tempature here is low

nothing is overclocked at all

(from the abit forum)

More recently SP2 caused problems for some and there was an update.

Good idea.

I loaded the most recent version, it did the same thing.

Hard Crash. Argh!!!!

A little more information.

I used to have the cdrw and the dvd rw on different ide channels. Same thing happened, hard crash

I recently moved the two devices back to the same channel, one as master (cdrw) and one as slave (dvd rw). Same thing. Hard Crash.

This is really bugging me.

system crash when nero open. Thats' really rare. I kinda suspect maybe there's something incompatible with nero and your system. Is your driver support by nero? Do you encounter any other problems while using your system, the reason I ask is because it maybe your ram is fault. Finally, did you check to see if there's any new firmware for your drives/drivers?

did it ever work before? cuz if so, then maybe a new addition to your computer could have done something. as sam suggested, try to update everything.

I dont think it has ever worked. I am not sure, because I forget when I migrated to the new computer for burning cds from the old computer. As far as I am going to say, it has never worked.

I have really tried pretty much every version of nero for the last year or so, and none of them have worked.

I have posted on the abit forum site, still no one can solve this problem.

It has been really frustrating.

Help me Obi Won, you're my only hope

Have you tried disabling IMAPI CD Burning service?

good call on the api, it could be faulty.
I also suspect maybe software conflicts, someone suggested me to diable automatic restart under computer, advanced, startup and recovery. So when the system crashes, you can see the blue screen of death and maybe you can see what's causing the conflict.

Default nero error crash problems

Hi guys, I'm a virgin to the forum. I need help desperately with my Nero software. I'm having problems accessing the software due to a crashing problem where I get a message and error signature.... NEROSTARTSMART.EXE HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO CLOSE. WE ARE SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. This has really got me stumped. I'm guessing it's a registry problem, but I really can't put my finger on it. I've used to Nero cleaning tool, uninstalled the software and reinstalled but it still doesn't fix it. I can't seem to get any version of nero to work on my computer, cos' of error signature. Can anyone please help?
