Default Cannot boot up Hard Disk

hey guyz.. i've a big big problem ..

i cant use my Maxtor hard disk at all ..

when i boot up .. i get ntfs.sys BSOD ..

then when i use the XP cd .. i still get ntfs.sys BSOD ..

i had to disconnect the hard disk ..

i'm using my older hard disk now .. i wanna recover the other hard disk ..

even when i plug the hard disk as slave or on other channel .. my xp will crash ..

basically i dont know how to boot to that hard disk at all

Hmm.. Sounds like you have a dying hard disk...

You can't even boot with it on another IDE channel or controller?

.. ntfs.sys curropted..

i had to use ntfs4dos .. copied a fresh ntfs.sys from a freshly formated windows xp .. & used ntfs4dos to copy it to the existing hard disk

not everything is solved

Check RAM. it's possible that the corruption is happening when the system is being loaded into memory/causing corrupted writes to the HD

Also, maybe it's the mobo too. I had problems with bad mobos writing random corruptions to my hard disk a long time ago.

Well if your able to use an older disk, it cant be the motherboard or the ram. I would go with the hard disk is just dying. Have you gone to maxtors site and downloaded theyre lifeboat tool or w/e I think its suppose to predict when your harddrive is dead.



And this just happened out of the blue?
