It depends on how you treat your notebook. I've seen many people throwing their notebooks around, even when it's still running! And they wonder why their hard disks die so early.

Treat your notebook well, and it will last a long, long time.

Well said! Yea, the user have to be careful of their laptops. I got a Win95 NEC laptop at home and it is still runing well....I think it is 9 years-old right now.

I don't think IBM has much to do with battery technology.

IMHO, it depends more on how the user treats the battery. My old Fujitsu P2040's battery is still running well too, and it's not an IBM.

But that's because I usually run it off AC power. So does my brother (who's using it now).

Take a look at the BenQ notebooks we bought. Same notebooks bought at the same time. My battery health is still at 100% but yours is faltering a bit, right?

When did I say IBM has anything to do with it? I only meant they source the better quality ones for their notebook.

and mind you, I always keep the BenQ on A/C and while it's ok.. i feel that the batt is really bad and lousy. only one or two times drained and it wears off the charge already. WTF man. one or two times only. and this also becuase Highpoint took two bloody weeks to repair my machine.

Eh, really?? But I thought you always use it on the go??

I mean, I've seen you using the notebook on battery charge at Starbucks, etc.

if doing so just for 2-3 times down to 10-20% also can kill a battery that is less than 1/2 years old, i rest my case man.

I don't think so... Lithium-ion batteries last longer if you keep them fully charged.
