Default DVD Player Locking Up?

Hi I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but I'm having a problem with my pc. I just built it maybe 2 weeks ago and it's been working great. But today when I try to play a dvd it locks up and restarts. I can play call of duty multiplayer or the game with no problems why won't it play dvds? Is there a diagnostic program out there I could use? Thanks.

My comp: AMD 3500+ Winchester
Gigabyte K8NF-9 PCI-E Nforce 4
6600GT 128mb Vid.
1GB Corsair Valueselect in Dual Channel
80GB SATA HD
Windows XP Home

Powerdvd 6 PLayer

Default DVD Lockup?

The DVD is 20th FOX and I tried playing call of duty and the game won't work now either. The pc locks up and reboots. It makes no sense to me. Thanks!

Well, if the PC is doing it on other things as well, I would look at the DVD drive being faulty, or miss-configured with jumpers. It's also possible that it requires an 80-wire IDE cable, not a 40-wire.
