Default Need Urgent Help About Sony's DW-G120A DVD Writer, Just bought one and face some prob

I need some urgent help here, I've just bought a Sony DW-G120A DVD Writer and I've face this problem when burning DVD-R, don't know whether the problem occurs on other media format or not, but when burning CD-R, it's seems to be ok, the process finish perfect. The situation is like this, the burning process starts fine, but when it came to the process of ending the disc, it's said that the drive cannot perform end of disc-at-once. Here's what the Nero shows on my screen:

Sony DVD RW DW-G120A
PMA Update failure
Sony DVD RW DW-G120A
Could not perform end of disc-at-once
Burn process failed at 4x (5,540KB/s)

BTW, I also could not determine the write speed and write method eventhough the disc that I've put in is a 1x-4x DVD-R. In addition, I also hope to upgrade the firmware of it (I believe that this will solve the above problem.), but I don't know where to find one, I do notice that this drive has the same spec of LiteOn SHM-165H6S, I wonder are they the same and can I use the firmware from LiteOn? I really appreciate of the help that you guys give, thank's 1st.

it could be a burner problem .. if you can burn CDs doesnt mean your DVD burner is perfectly fine

i had a Sont DRU 700A which lasted only less than 3 months ..
after that, it completely failed to burn DVDs but burn CDs fine ..

what Medias are you using at the moment?

well.....from what i've learn from the other forums. there is a posible that the firmware is too..."picky", it makes the burner can only burn "branded" DVD. not very sure yet, but will try to flash the firmware after the latest firmware is out. there's also several solution out there which is not apply on sony.

One of my cousin's Sony CD writer also experinced the same problem. It starts fine but just right before the burning process ended, Nero shows the same error message.

How many brands of media have you tested on? Try a few... if a few brands can, a few cannot, then it's probably picky and need new firmware.

Eh....haven't tried those "branded" disc yet, the shop where I bought the drive only sells A1Pro, too bad I'm in JB, very hard to get my hand on some good quality disc.
