Actually to get a good 17" LCD now would cost less than A$400, and in the US probably around $200 because hardware is cheaper there. At that price it's hard to argue against buying one. Colour reproduction is not a problem as long as you don't do 2D work, so you just need to find one with good response and contrast. Other than these areas LCDs are just way better than CRTs

Imo, I think CRT'S are being replaced by lcd's because of the cost to manufacture the crt tube itself (That's alot of glass), and because of the weight of the tube,,, The cost of global shipping go's way up also.

Just another way they can rip us off.

Crt has always been better then lcd. But now it is getting real hard to find a good crt because no one is making them like they used to... (sony)....
