i think dell has seen AMD's upcoming plan.

possibly the K8L.

or maybe the opteron scales better in 4/8/16 etc - ways (core still uses the old FSB architecture)

cuz from what we've seen so far, it seems like everything will be going intel's way in the coming 6-12 months.

doesnt make any sense..hehe..

anyway, this deal really upset me. it's a proof that AMD doesnt care about the retail market and distributors all tis while. SI is all they want.

Damn you AMD!

Kinda wonder what the price will be like for the AMD Dells. As it is, when comparing the HP prices for dual core Xeons and dual core Opterons, I'm having a tough time trying to decide which to go for as I kinda prefer having more lower end machines compared to a fewer higher end ones (for load balancing + failover purposes)

Well, the Dell advertisments might look funny when they actually fitted Opterons on their products later this year...

... you see all the blue and the blue in the advertisments...

suddenly you see a green AMD logo there...

Somehow I doubt they would advertise the fact that they're offering AMDs. But we'll see.

dell only sell 4-way amd machine.

not desktop, notebook, workstation/any typical server. so it's very likely that there wont be any AMD logo
