I think more competitors are needed in the respective markets.

I still remember the days when an awesome GC (namely my Geforce PRO DDR) could be bought for 800 ringgit!

And nowadays, it costs me the same to get a decent PCPC Silencer and 2k for 1kw PSU. Ouchies.

The price of high end mother boards has skyrocked too previously the most you would pay for a board was $200-300 au now the newer boards are $400+ au (sorry i can only work in Australian $ which will seem worse for most people here)

compare prices of nforce4 boards and the nforce 590 boards

And I can't believe some sites are giving "EDITOR'S CHOICE" award.

haha there is even a sticker on the box, warning the user about instability due to NVIDIA 680i chipset.

this sticker alone is more than enough to disqualify the board from getting any awards. hardocp review is very harsh.

anyway, back to the topic, while things seem expensive for DIY, SI is offering decent PC for a much cheaper price. Dell AMD based machines, and most of the notebook are getting cheaper and cheaper. even Apple blablabook can be bought for <5k.

it's very obvious that component manufacturers purposely jack up the pricing.

I think that at least the sticker give some merit to Asus.
Not warning potential customers would be a lot worse...
