Default How?

How do I do that test if the gateway is fine or it's a DNS error? I'm a complete N00B when it comes to Internet settings...

Eric, why don't you list down what you get the network settings by typing ipconfig/all at the command window?

U may have IP address conflict with other machines.Do u use a router or ADSL modem for all machines. If yes, then try to enable DHCP in ur router or modem. Then do a double click on the lan icon on the taskbar,go to properties, select internet protocol(TCP/IP) from the list, click on properties & set the two options as automatically. If u r using a hub or switch, then u'll have to note other PCs IP adressees from this screen for all ur PCs & give a unique IP address to ur non working PC which u've not used in oother PCs.Save the configuration & it should work now.

If these r not working, then try this.Open Internet Explorer,Go to tools,Internet options, click on connections, click on Lan setting. If there's a proxy server, delete the value in the box & clear any check marks if there is any in this screen.Save this & try opening Internet again.
