U can check out this link to know in detail. http://www23.tomshardware.com/storag...274&chart =41 Go through the entire comparison & u'll find that Samsung HDD is in most of the cases r far superior to the WD & other much higher priced HDDs.It's File Writing performance is identical even with the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 750 GB. And for Raid,I'll suggest u to have two same model HDDs in Raid 0. Last edited by CALLOFDUTY05 : 9th Dec 2006 at 01:36 PM.

Nothing beats good old real world testing (which PCMark is NOT - synthetic benchies don't mean much.) I would really like to try out some of the perpendicular platter drives. They seem to be pretty dandy. The Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 is a nice hard drive. Higher density platters are always good.

From what I read, 16mb cache(Seagate & Hitachi) for 250gb, the price is quite a differ with 8mb cache, while 320gb almost the just a little. And the technical sheet said that, 250gb 16mb cache for entry level server/workstation, well, it make felt like it for doing big thing.. Well, I sure understand it after couple month of using it..haha..

The burst rate should be higher too. The general consensus is more cache is better (8mb buffer v. 16mb) though in real life, it may only boost the synthetic benchmarks. But hey, more is better right?
