Great news! Glad you have get it fixed!

Next time put away those Freedos, (or similar Linux that can auto-wipe) or those Emergency-BIOS-fix-diskettes out from the computer!

OMG.. What a scare. That's a really dangerous CD you've got there, man.

TBH, it should never be allowed to format the PC/notebook automatically. A good installation script should at the very least ASK the user to confirm the format before proceeding.

LOL! Indeed. When I customized the FreeDos, I inserted a prompt for the installation, whether to continue or not. But for production usage, I created another which auto-wipe and deghost FreeDOS automatically. Well, you know... production people, it's hard for them to think. So, the less thinking is involved, the better and the less problem. That's what the IE side told me, they are responsible for all tools and support for production.

That's why there's that CD. And the unfortunate thing, I have one copy too. Along with those that prompts. On the day before that fateful day, I just grab any CD around to test my CRC tool that I'm working on. Took the CD coz it's just around 100MB+. Lazy to wait ma.. I didn't notice the word (IE version) that I wrote on the CD.

So, the next day.. I wake up my notebook from hibernation, went to toilet, came back. And I saw a green screen with the words "Keluarkan CD dan hantar untuk packing" (Remove the CD and send for packing). I tell you, I nearly fainted for real... And I didn't have any backup at all especially for that CRC tool that I was finishing.

No pink folders on my laptop. Mostly work stuffs, software and MP3s. Well, if you consider the Tammy videos to be pink, then only one folder. I managed to recover that one too.

Yup, I already give the FREEDOS cd to my colleague. He wanted it when I said I was gonna throw the CD into the dustbin.

That's a lethal piece of software, man... You should send it to Osama so it will wipe his notebook's hard drives or something. Now, that would be something.

Aaaaah!

I need a help here!

Today my brother access his comp, and to his horrors, crap happened! It shouted something about windows file not found, and then it just hangs there.

I afraid his Maxtor 40GB HDD is already tapau-ed, but since I couldn't confirm it, I hope it's the system partition that only went bonkers.

If it's REALLY, my bro's final year projects ARE ALL INSIDE THE HDD and could all be MISSING or DESTROYED!!! Aaaack!!

So please assist me. I don't really know any HDD retrieval software or whatsoever! Dashken help me and my bro!!

Ahahaha... PM me your email. I'll *ahem* for you tomorrow when I'm at work.

First thing when you get the software, create an image of your HDD with it on your 2nd PC (not the HDD itself). So, make sure you have enough disk space on your 2nd PC. The software a bit blur... I had 100GB of space but the notebook HDD only about 50GB, it said space is not enough. But I created it anyway. Then open the image and use the 'Superscan' function to scan it.

Use it at your own risk ha..

All the best man!

Hmm.. That could be because it will need a similar amount of space to create the "repaired" data.

Meaning.. If you want to repair a 50GB hard drive, you should have at least 100GB of space.

But why when I force it to create, it's able to create? Maybe it's just a warning/reminder, and not a stopping point. It should have stated how much space I needed.
