I have another case of faulty onboard ASUS motherboard. NIC broke. Seriously I don't trust Asus anymore.

Asus having so bad QC these days Now what is the recommend MOBO in market? Dash should change one

I wish to clear things up. I borrowed the same mobo from someone and booted up the Windows XP, and found the same problem with the audio.

That's to confirm whether it's fault on my part. Well, it's confirmed. I think again. The only thing that's not the same with my previous XP installation on my A64 system is the Windows XP cd. The one I used was a CD that I took from my office. I reinstalled the OS using my own Windows XP installation cd, and no audio problem anymore!

So, I would like to clarify that ASUS is not the problem.

Sorry everyone...

In the future, if you encounter the same problem as mine, you know what to do.

Is that both window are different version? or original and hehe

Alright... i face this type of issue too, after install window can not work properly is more obvios compare to the case you face now.... So you better make some copy of working CD

Sounds like the install CD is bad. I had that once, real annoying because no one wants to believe it. Fortunately, I was able to get a free copy through school. Good old MS, supporting tech students by sending out software! It's even licensed as if it were retail!
