new rig

hey guys... im gona build a new rig in a few months time.. im jus wondering wether i made a good decision or not.. pls tel me.. here's ma specs..

processor: core 2 quad Q6600
motherboard:gigabyte P35-DS4
ram: corsair XMS2 2x1gb
graphic card:his X1950pro 512mb
hd: WD 320gb

Since you're in it for the long term, ditch the X1950pro and get something that's DX10 hardware. Say and 8800GTS or 8600GTS.

8800GTS is the best value for money.

ma psu would be silverstone element 500watts.. i was thinking bout the HD 2900XT.. how bout that card???? im sure in couple of months the price will drop... is it a gud buy???

Nvidia offerings are currently better.

Plus that card needs 1 6pin as well as the new 8pin PCIe power connector.

Nice rig.

But the Core 2 Quad seems to be a little bit... overkill. If I ever have this, I'll be operating it on an MRI/CAT scan machine. Well, these needed Xeons.

Why not the 8800 card? Since it's a high-end gaming rig + 4-core processor?

500 watts enough ah for 8800?
No offence with Silverstone but i would recommend Enermax...
