Exclamation Is there a best brand for dvd burners/combo ?

i was wondering why are all the dvd burners stuck at 8x writing speed while i recently saw Plextor PX-760A which claims to be able to write at an optimum speed of 10x ... any opinions?.... err the writing speed refers to double layer btw

No matter what writing speed they claim for the writer, it's important to note that the actual writing speed will be restricted by the media you buy. Needless to say, faster media will cost a lot more than slower media.

But 16x medias are everywhere now. And to burn at 20x, you will only need 16x media.

best brands for me are:

Liteon
Plextor
NEC

had one of each already and was very happy with them.

just choose one that satisfies your needs.

I've always prefered Pioneer burners.

I think its just a matter of preference.

I've been using Liteon since the CD Burner era, never have a single problem. In fact, I replaced my old 4x burner lately because it was too slow and I wanted SATA.

Have been using Liteon too. Burning speed is not that important for me, normally I click and leave it, go play with myself, then when I'm back, done.
