Default New Asus budget laptop!

Hey guys,

One of the article from NST (the computer one) reported that there'll be the new Asus budget notebook and the price for the lowest end one is RM695. The operating system is not Vista or XP, but a Linux instead. The hard-disk? It's flash memory!

Now I think it could beat those 2nd-hand old laptops for this price! and it's faster than that!

Asus EeePc

interesting looking device if it's light small and long batt capacity. might be worth a look!

Yeah, and also it's powered with an ultra-low-voltage Celeron M 900MHz with the 910M chipset. There are other specifications fully stated too, unlike the OLPC which is currently only accessible to selected countries.

Before that I was anticipating the launch of OLPC, but since the Asus EEEpc is going to head towards the retail stores, why not get the Asus one instead?

And best of all, no moving devices - the flash 4GB is the storage. Well, if you want more, there's always the external HDD.

The RAM thing is a little bit dubious - I hope it's expandable like the other normal notebooks. Still, the RAM is very sufficient for the Linux.

On top of that I can slide it under my bed when I don't use it, or hide it in my coat pocket!

The batteries and the upgradability are still unknown at this time. Let's wait for next month for the release!

edit: and it's 0.89kg and battery life about 3h but still can be expandable. - reported in a review site.
