i tried to update my motherboard starting with bios, the bios was updated and then it asked for a re-boot (as usual) so i said yes and exactly that happened which i was fearing. It flashed an error again (the same error) "cmos checksum bad ... usb device over current status detected ....system will shut down in 15 seconds"
now what shall i do??..

Reset the BIOS, it will be back to normal.

I still dun understand why the USB Device over current. Try removing all USB devices.

That's exactly what we are trying to do. TBH, I have never seen THAT error before.

Check the screen during bootup. See if the BIOS was really updated, or if it still the old BIOS.

Also, try DISABLING the USB controllers in the BIOS. See if you get the error after that.

That's nothing to be worried about. When you flash the BIOS, it reverts to its default settings. That's why it's set to read the floppy drive first. You need to change your custom settings after every BIOS flash.

Did you check the BIOS revision number to see if it really has been updated?

I don't think it's the battery. If it was, your BIOS settings would revert to default settings everytime you start up.

Hmm.. This is a VERY peculiar problem. Do you get this USB error problem even without any USB devices attached?

Oh yeah, did you try DISABLING the USB ports in the BIOS?
