Default Suggestions for My Rig!

Greetings,

After reading the Geforce 8800GT review, I would really like to have it in my new rig which I'll be buying around Dec. I wonder what mobo I should go with it. Oh and BTW, I'm going with Intel. XD But if there's a greater deal with AMD, I don't mind XD.

My budget is around 3K (Excluding LCD/Monitor).

Thanks a lot.

Okay, I'm going to make a quick guess here...

E4500 or E6xxx series Intel

Asus P5K (the lowest end one.. with 4 DDR2 slots and 4 sata and priced around RM300, very good!)

2GB DDR2 RAM (1GB + 1GB)

160 - 320GB HDD

8800GT video card

Acbel/Enermax/Enlight/Coolermaster (450W and above, with 6-pin PCI-E power connector)

That's all.

RM 3K (US$870)? Hmm.. The NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT is going for around RM 850-900, right? That's going to eat up almost a third of your budget.

So, yeah, you will have to get a lower-end system... probably E4500 or E6320, that range?

No matter what, get more RAM, at least 2GB since it's so cheap. You will need it for Vista.. and games.

Yes... must get a truckload of them. RAM prices has gone too freaking rock-bottom! I want to add another stick of 1GB to my current comp later... but WinXP wouldn't like 3GB...

If I go with AMD, will it losened my budget more? I have a friend who goes with AMD, he said it's quite cheap (for the processor) compared to an Intel rig. I don't really multi task much actually, so I'm cool. I just don't want a rig that will bottleneck.

Well, you would. But an Intel Core 2-based system would really be the best thing to pair with the 8800 GT.
