    Hi!

    I bought a soundcard creative xfi xtreme gamer;
    I use it with spdif out - toslink- receiver - speakers ...

    Does anybody know what's the difference between Vista and XP MCE on the sound part?

    I've tested several times with these 2 operating systems and my conclusion is that vista sound better (cleaner sound ,better bass & treble)

    But why ? same setting were on win xp

    ps : in Vista I have enabled 24 bit ,48000 hz ,Studio Quality (SPDIF out playback device on windows volume control);
    also in winamp I have enabled 24 bit out

    Thank you.

    Well, if you are using SPDIF out, then the audio signal gets transmitted directly to the receiver. This should give you maximum audio quality.

    I think it's because of kmixer issue. Try using ASIO or kernel streaming with foobar.
