No way! I thought Liteon drivers were awesome....
My LG drives are working swell so far though.

Wow, I just had this problem last night, and the solution was to reflash the firmware. Weird.

Yeah, firmware upgrades have a big effect on media compatibility.

No, the drive was dead until I reflash the SAME firmware. It doesn't read any CD or DVDs or recognises any disc.

Wow! That's odd. So now it's running right?

Yup, working fine now.

Very weird, I thought the drive died, because it couldn't read discs that was working fine before. So I thought of giving it a try before I give it back, suddenly it works again.

Hey that sounds like what my old BenQ was doing a few days ago. Better re-flash my drive as well

I've added DVD Rom Samsung SD 616Q to my computer but its not reading any disc. my computer is not detecting any error with the installation, my win xp immediately recognized and installed it. i don't see any wrong from the device manager. i already updated the firmware but it still, "No disc inserted". when i tried to insert a disc and listen to the drive, the light is blinking but it seems the disc is not spinning but my dvd drive is new. is there something wrong with the installation, or do i need to install additional driver?

You should create your own topic matey
Anyway, did you test different media with that DVD-Rom, such as CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, etc.?
