Yep both are and you can. Looking through the the X264 and X264HD results I chose not to go to the 8xxx series as the E6xxx series with a moderate O/C matchs that series quite well.

If I was going to pay the extra money I would have gone to the Q6600 Quad which is rock solid and not much more than an E8xxx series Duo

The only advantage for E8000 series is overclocking with lower voltage.
