Default Is Desktop PC dying?

I don't know where to post this...

Notebooks are getting really cheap these days, every tom dick can afford one. Do you prefer having a notebook or the traditional desktop?

Unlike an average joe, I definitely prefer desktop over notebook for far too many reasons.

1. It's far more powerful
2. It's upgradable
3. It's very customizable, up to 30" monitor if you want
4. Full size keyboard and mouse
5. Gaming
6. Cheaper if you want the equivalent specs for both

Desktops these days are more like workstations, powerhouse that serves a specific purpose, like graphics designing, gaming, etc. While I see the usefulness of a notebook, but I still don't really need one.

What about you?

I don't mind having a notebook for portability, but 99% of the time, I will use a desktop.

I have never owned a laptop but if I ever travel for work I would have one for portability. As for performance I like my desktop

I have to use a notebook for work. I do travel quite a bit and when I do, I want to be able to work as well. That's why a desktop is a big no-no for work.

Of course, I prefer to have a larger display. That's why when I work at home, I have a 20" LCD monitor hooked up to my notebook.

But I do need a desktop too, if only as a testbed and some games!

Eh, love those desktops because they are modular. You can upgrade it piece-by-piece.

Laptops are good for portability. My old Vaio is still moving around with me at home when the computers are occupied.
