But if you are going to buy DDR memory why not get PC3200/DDR400 memory instead of the PC2700. If you are going to OC you may get better results with the higher rated memory.

Just a thought
I agree my OCZ Performance PC3200 is working fine here with tight timings and overvoltage

Core - Quasar (MS6786) V1.0 µATX motherboard - spec_quasar - Information and Instructions - IXTREME POWER 6000 - P852002501 - iXtreme - platform_danube_ixtreme - Desktop
thats the mobo details

and this is the CPU i'm usin
CPU - AMD Athlon XP 2700+ - spec_6888090000 - Information and Instructions - IXTREME POWER 6000 - P852002501 - iXtreme - platform_danube_ixtreme - Desktop

i dont think i'm gonna try overclocking as my PC restarts automatically a lot.

Under system ram from your link ....

Quote:
64-bit Advanced Memory controller supporting DDR333,266 and 200 SDRAM
DDR200 is PC3200 not sure on manufacturer compatibility though.
(The PC3200 I am using is on a cheap ASrock mobo and working fine)

really... i was unaware of that. lol

i'll ask packard bell about ram compatibility right now XD

thanks

EDIT:
well the site play.com specifications says it supports PC2700 333Mhz FSB

but what the heck i'm still gonna ask them about it since their customer service is free (unlike microsoft lol)

Dont forget miahman that faster spec ram can run at lower speeds (IE if you put 800Mhz ram in a motherboard that only supports 667Mhz it will work fine, albeit slightly slower then if it were running 800Mhz).

So bottom line is buy whatever ram is cheapest

EDIT:
Also Mac Daddy the way to get DDR speed -> Performance Rating is to multiply by 8
eg:
DDR 333Mhz = PC2700
DDR 400Mhz = PC3200
DDR 800Mhz = PC6400
etc

Looking at Newegg DDR400 is about the same as DDR333 per 1gig stick , just me personally but I would chose the 400 over 333 if I was buying for my old Epox board with the KT333 chipset.

One of these days I'll get around to getting it recapped, maybe i should grab some now before they quit carrying it It was one of the best OC boards I've had for its time.

PC3200 runs at DDR200 in BIOS. PC6400 at DDR400 those are the terms I was expressing. Effective memory bus speed is 400Mhz for PC3200 and 800Mhz for PC6400 but the terms I used were the ones used by the manufacturer of his mobo ... making sense here ?
