Default Confused about a new psu on newegg: the powertek skytek

Newegg.com - Powertek skytek-600psu 600W ATX 12V 2.2 / EPS 12V Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, FCC, TUV, CE - Power Supplies

From all the indications I can find.. its a new powersupply on the market, no reviews on it and such..

its apperantly a 785w psu under-watted to perform stable at 600watts..

it has 40+ amps on its single 12volt rail and 39+ on the cpu plugs..

its got all the cables you need for an average computer, nicely made.. from the pictures the internals don't look too bad but i'd rather have a review from JonnyGURU.com - Power Supply Reviews and more! - News

heh

.. what really confuses me is how they can offer it for 39 bucks.. there must be something about it..?

I'm going to post something on the jonnyguru forums about it too.

edit: heh nvm need to up my post count first.

Not familiar with this brand and the feedback on that last link didn't sound to promising

It's not underwatted though. That's just its peak wattage.
Most power supplies have that, but they just can't run continuously at that wattage before crashing.

It's probably some rebranded generic power supply. As long as you use, maybe, less than 300W, I think you would be safe.
That's how it is with generic psu's, always use less than 50%
