HSF ?

I am building up a new pc for sis in law.

p35/e8400

So I guess I must update bios b4 e8400 will work right?

And will the older 6750 HSF fan work for the bios swap? Dun wanna mess up the TIM on the smaller "wolfdale" HSF.

Yup, if the motherboard is not new, you might need to flash the BIOS first. But it should at least boot up.

It's literally the same processor, because it uses the same heatspreader.

I'm a noob when it come to things like this. So I can put the 8400 in and it should post? Then can I flash the bios from the bios? (Before installing windows.)

From BIOS to BIOS? If it boots up, there's nothing to worry. You can flash after installing Windows.

Well, I swapped cpu and hsf for nothing...

The p5k came with a newer bios with 45nm support...
