Take a look at Tech ARP - Intel Core 2 Processor Performance Comparison Guide Rev. 2.7 for a performance comparison of the Intel processors.

As for dual GPUs, it's much better to just get a SINGLE fast card. You only need two GPUs if a single GPU is not up to the job.

Thank you. Did some researching also, and decided to go with the Quad Q9400 2.66GHz 1333FSB 6MB L2 Cache

I'm about done, only thing left is deciding on a PSU.

Between this 2

CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC $119.99

and

Thermaltake toughpower W0117RU 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC $119,99 ($79,99 After Rebates)

It's a 40 dollar diference. I think I'm going with the Thermaltake. What do u think?

IMHO (not sure about the others), both 750W PSUs are overkill. Hehe..

I am using a 550W Mushkin PSU for our testbed. It works even with the new Core i7, power-guzzling cards like the GTX 280 and 4 HDDs.

If you have to choose between the two, get the cheaper one. Either one would work just fine.

Just make sure they come with at least TWO PCI Express power connectors and one should be an 8-pin power connector. If they have a modular cable system, even better.

but then, IMO...750W seems futureproof at least (since 750w psu are cheaper these days)..for me, i think i go for the Corsair psu..ooh, as for the cpu cooler, it depends on yourself..some ppl tend to worry alot bout temp of their cpu or any parts (ppl like me )

There's really no need to future proof PSU. Any good PSU at around 500W is more than sufficient.

My 3 year old Antec 480W still works very well today, other than 1 fan swap.

I'm not a fan of quad core CPU. I always recommend a good dual core. I'm personally using E8400, it's excellent, and overclocks really well, without any wasted power/heat.

Yeah, unless you have applications that make use of more than 2 CPUs (e.g. 3D rendering software), a dual-core processor is a far better choice.

decided to go with the quad core...I do use video editing, webdesign, visual studio software. It's mostly gaming, but I did my research and the quad core was the best deal.

I went with DDR3 because it's futureproof.

It's too late now to chance my order, and I'm happy with going quadcore, I think many upcomming and future games will make use of more cores and the investment will be worth it.
